Our Team

Meet the founders and advisors bringing together clinical research expertise, regional knowledge and strategic leadership at ManaClinix.

Founders

Gift is a DPhil candidate in Oncology at the University of Oxford, where his research sits at the interface of tumour mechanics, intracellular signalling, and and their potential relevance to cancer detection and treatment. He holds an MSc in Applied Cancer Science from Oxford, and his background spans applied biosciences, biotechnology, cancer biology, computational analysis, and translational research. A Rhodes Scholar and Presidential Award recipient, he is also co-founder of a biotechnology initiative in Southern Africa and an active contributor to science communication, entrepreneurship, and scholar-led programming. His work is driven by a commitment to building rigorous, ethical, and locally relevant health innovations that connect scientific discovery with real-world patient and community needs.

Luisa is pursuing a PhD in Immunology at the University of Oxford on the Rhodes Scholarship. Her academic education encompasses medical research, global governance, and communication studies (BSc Molecular Medicine, BA Rhetoric and Latin, MSc Global Governance and Diplomacy). Alongside her studies, she is the founding President of the Oxford Society for Science Communication and Engagement. Her particular interest lies in patient-centred clinical research, with a focus on making the patient experience central to how research is designed, communicated and delivered.

Advisors

Eric O’Neill is Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology in the University of Oxford’s Department of Oncology and Director of Graduate Studies for Oncology. He is a cancer biologist whose research spans fundamental tumour biology through to translational therapeutic development, with particular expertise in pancreatic cancer, tumour signalling, the tumour microenvironment, immuno-oncology and DNA damage and repair. As head of the O’Neill Group at Oxford, he combines experimental and computational approaches to understand how cancer develops, how tumour cells interact with their environment, and why tumours respond differently to therapy. His current work includes mechanotransduction and RASSF1A biology, immunotherapy involving T cells, NK cells and macrophages, and mechanistic modelling of multitargeted therapeutics. At ManaClinix, Professor O’Neill provides scientific and translational guidance as the company develops infrastructure to connect biomedical innovation with clinical research and, ultimately, improved access to emerging therapies across African markets.

Amedeo is an Academic Fellow of Tax Law and Accounting at Bocconi University in Milan, and a TTLF Affiliate at the Stanford Law School. He holds a DPhil in Law and an MSc in Taxation from the University of Oxford, as well as an MSc in Law and Business and a BSc in Economics and Business from Bocconi University. He has cumulated extensive experience in tax law and policy, business, finance, and technology law, having previously worked for several private and public institutions, including governments, local administrations, and the European Commission.
